Quite Surprised…

This afternoon, I went out to wait for Emmie and her kindergarten bus.  While waiting, I decided to water some flowers. I stuck my finger  in this basket to see if it the soil was dry….

…and I heard something shuffling around in there.  Suddenly, a bird flew out!  So I  peeked inside, behind the flowers….

And was so surprised – and excited – to see what was resting in my flower basket!

I’m sure this is how the kids will be spending the days until the baby birds appear….

{ok, ok – me too! i think i’m more nosey than the kids. At least I don’t need a stool to peek inside the basket!}

  1. So exciting! What a perfect springtime treat. The other night I looked out my kitchen window to see 2 young stags (deer) right outside! We watched them for maybe 10 minutes before they bounded away. Nothing like animals and sun and spring (can you tell that it finally stopped raining here in Northern California?)

  2. Don’t you love surprises like that? Our neighbors have a nest outside their kitchen window and we use the binoculars to watch the mama feed her babies. Enjoy nature!

    That is the best surpise to find in your beautiful flower basket.

  4. We have a robins’ nest in a pine tree! Very obvious, mama chose to nest near the end of a low branch. Got pics about a week apart (still in the camera, I’m so lazy this week). Yesterday afternoon hubs said the nest was empty so hopefully they’ve learned to fly, those 3 little bitty birdies!

  5. How fun! We had the same thing happen earlier this spring. The birds built their nest in the wreath on our front door and layed eggs. But something happened and the nest fell out and the eggs broke…we were so sad.
