Under the Cabinet Outlet Strips

A few years ago, my brother and his family did a huge kitchen remodel.  When I was up at their house this weekend, my brother commented on how much he loves their under cabinet outlets.  Instead of doing standard outlets {in the backsplash area} they built outlet ‘strips’ underneath their cabinets.

There wasn’t any cutting into the pretty glass tiles to make room for outlets.  The backsplash is beautiful and seamless.

Cell phones can be charged.  Coffee makers plugged in.  And there are still plenty of outlets {which are virtually out of sight!} for any electrical needs that may arise.

I’ll be adding ‘under cabinet outlets’ to my wish list for our kitchen remodel! Will you?

  1. I love it Jen!
So we are starting the thinking process on building a home…and on my list of must haves…
outlets — under the counters in the kitchen, in drawers that pull out (so the toaster can be plugged in and just slide the drawer out to use..not sure if it will pass building inspection or fire code -hmmm) outlets on outside of the house — right under the hang over part so Christmas lights can be plugged in easily…and in the bathroom — a strip under the counter to keep toothbrushes, razors ect plugged in….
oh to build a house with a woman planning it!!!!

    • Another great outlet location is in the bathroom drawer – you can leave your hairdryer plugged in all the time and just toss it in the drawer when you’re done! Love all of your ideas for where to have outlets! So smart!!

  2. Brilliant!

  3. I just found you from 5 Days….5 Ways. When we re-modeled our kitchen the outlet strips were very high on my list! I LOVE them!! I went from a kitchen w/2 outlets to a kitchen w/at least 15-20plug ins!! It looks like your brother might have done something different though. Are his at an angle? That would have made them just that much better.

    • Hi!! The outlets are not at a an angle….must have been my poor photography! :) They just go right along the cabinet line (horizontally).

      Thanks so much for reading!!

      Jen

  4. Please please tell me where can i find these??? I am having alot of trouble.. going to Home Depot today.. Lowes no luck… lighting store.. no luck…

    • The builder put them in. I’ll see if I can find out. You could always inquire with an electrician. I’m sure they would have some guidance. I’ll let you know if I find the resource.

      • Did you ever find out where to buy the electrical strip? My husband and I have been searching for them!

        • Sorry, Karen! It was my brothers kitchen and his builder installed them. So unfortunately, I don’t have that info! I’ll be sure to let you know if I come across any though.
