The Perfect {Barely There} Gray

I’ve been searching for the perfect gray.

My first purchase was of Benjamin Moore’s Gray Owl. I’ve seen it several places online and I was excited to give it a try.

Cozy.Cottage.Cute used Gray Owl and lightened  it by 50%.

I tried that color sample too.

That colored looked PERFECT on my computer.  I don’t know if it’s my eyes, or the lighting in my house, but my Gray Owl did NOT look like that in my house! I first sampled Home Depot’s mix of the color. After finding the color a bit too green for me {yes, green!}, I went to Benjamin Moore.  Their color sample was the same! It did not look like the color above.

I sampled many, many colors.  The picture below is simply a small representation….

Through the process, I realized that I was looking for a ‘barely there’ gray. Not a deep, solid, rich gray that you may paint the outside of a house. But a nice subtle, almost-white-with-a-bit-of-gray type of gray.

Finally – yes finally – I found it!  It took some perseverance, but I did it.

Benjamin Moore’s Shoreline looked great in my house.  Just a touch of gray. Not too green. Not too blue. Just right.

So I painted Emmie’s room painted last week.  While I don’t have any pictures to share of her room yet, here is a nursery I came across on Houzz that used BM Shoreline…

I love it!

It took me awhile, but I persevered and found my perfect gray!

There is still plenty to be done in Emmie’s room.  So stay tuned for progress pictures in the future!

Family Room Before and After

Do you remember the hutch transformation that I shared with you back in May?  Today I’m going to show you the rest of the room!

My client moved into the house last fall and she needed help pulling the room together.

This is what it looked like when the house was purchased…

Before moving in, the room was painted a light gray color and the brick around the fireplace was painted white.

The furniture was already a good neutral color, so after they got settled in the house, I got to work!

The red hutch above was painted white and moved across the room.  And a few accessories were purchased to help style the shelves.

AFTER 3

Curtains were hung and an end table, lamp and vase with flowers were added to the room…

Doesn’t it look great!?

Summer has gotten the best of me and my blogging has suffered!  Thanks for being patient as I am slow to produce new blog posts. I have lots of post ideas in my head….it’s just finding the time to get them written!!

Happy 4th of July!

After cutting some flowers from my yard tonight, I decided to play with a camera lens that Dan and the kids gave me for my birthday.
