Client Project: Office Expansion

A local business, Kiley Juergens Wealth Management, is doing some expanding.  They needed a little help decorating an empty space in their office and they invited me to help!

It was a fairly quick turnaround time, so I looked for retail merchandise that was in stock.

Let’s look at a before picture….

Old office furniture was cleared out, which left me with a blank slate.

And some after pictures….

(Sorry about the bad angle in the picture above.  There was an office wall in the way, which forced me to stand a bit to the side, creating a funny angle.)

OFFICE UPDATE 5

It’s amazing what you can pull together from retail establishments that carry inventory! No special orders needed on this project. Because of this, I was able to gather items in one day and transform the space within the needed time frame.

I love how it turned out, and thankfully, my clients do too!

My Front Porch

Happy summer everyone! The kids are out of school and we’re enjoying a slower pace to our days.  Yes, the kids get to go on errands with me (you can image the excitement when I announce “Today we’re going grocery shopping!!”).    But we’ve also had our fair share of lazy days…movies on the couch and playing with friends.

Flowers are starting to bloom and my pots are starting to fill out nicely.  So today I’ll show a few pictures of my front porch with you!

I discovered I had tall grass that survived a long winter of neglect in some pots from last summer.  I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it. Plant it in the garden? Or add it to a giant pot with other flowers?  After I took on the sweaty job of digging the grass out of last years pots,  I set it in one of my galvanized buckets for a minute until I could decide where I would put it permanently.

But I happened to love how it looked in the old bucket!

Sometimes it pays off to think outside of the box!  You never know what creative look you may discover!

Years ago, a neighbor had tossed the chair below in the trash.  I immediately brought it home, tightened the screws and gave it a fresh coat of black paint.  Over the years, it’s weathered quite a bit, which makes me love it even more.

If you live in the greater Seattle area, you’re probably aware of the wonderful gardening store called Ravenna Gardens.  I went to University Village to Ravenna Gardens several weeks ago and had a great time putting together some arrangements for two big pots in front of our house.

POTTED FLOWERS

There are a few different shades of purple flowers and I paired them with a variety of greens.

I even used moss in the pots.  Have you ever done that?

I think it adds a lot of interest.

That’s it for today!  I hope you enjoyed taking a peek at some of my front porch decor!

Hawaiian Vacation

A few weeks ago, we took our kiddo’s out of school and went to Hawaii for 8 days.  We stayed on the west coast of Oahu in Ko Olina, which is very quiet and far away from the crazy, busy city.

The week was perfect.

We played. We swam. We snorkeled.

And by the look of these shriveled fingers, you can tell that the kids spent a TON of time in the water!

We spent the week with friends.  6 adults, 7 kids and perfectly perfect dynamics!

I took roughly 700 pictures.  But how could I resist when we drove by quaint places like this….

Doesn’t that just scream ‘Hawaii’?!

The shave ice was a big hit! (They call it SHAVE ice…not shaved ice! Who knew!)

We tried boogie boarding for the first time on the north shore.

We had hoped to see a turtle while we snorkeled.  And we didn’t just see ONE turtle, we saw several.  And two even crawled up on the beach, right in front of us! Hello Mr. Turtle!

I tried hard to be a fun mom and swim with my kids.  Get my hair wet.  Snorkel along side them.   I even went down the water slide!

Even with a small abscess on Emmie’s bum (which turned into cellulitis), it was still a fantastic vacation.

Her last night in Hawaii was spent in the ER….

…but she was a trooper.  And after some IV meds, she was in tip top shape.  Just in time to fly home.

One of Dan’s hobbies is putting together video from our vacations.  I haven’t ever shared any on my blog, but thought I’d give it a try this time!. If you have a few minutes and would like to watch, click here!

Oh Hawaii, how we miss you!
