Favorite Things…Windex Wipes

If you have little kids, it’s quite likely that your bathroom mirror resembles mine.  The kids rush a brush job and seconds later, there is toothpaste splattered all over the mirror {see below!}.

We often brush our teeth in our powder room downstairs and there isn’t a lot of storage.  Keeping windex and a roll of paper towels isn’t an option.  I’ve used baby wipes, clorox wipes and a wet paper towels…..and they all leave the mirror a streaky mess. {Yes, I’m just too lazy to actually walk and get the windex from the other room.}

Fortunately, Windex is a few steps ahead of me.

These small packs of wipes easily tuck away in our small cabinet in the bathroom.

So after one quick wipe….

…the mirror is clean again!!

Are you going to add Windex wipes to your shopping list?!

Favorite Things…Chalkboard Pens

Writing on a chalkboard can be messy.  Chalk dust gets everywhere.  And the letters sometimes smudge if your hand lays on the writing.

The solution? A chalkboard pen!

I just recently purchased my first chalkboard pen. Maybe I’m slow to be on board with these….but I love them!

The precision that you can achieve with a chalkboard pen is much greater than with regular chalk.  Dear Lilly created this on her chalkboard.  Surely she used a chalkboard pen!

{source}

I have the pen, and I have several chalkboards… now I just need to practice {and practice and practice and practice} my handwriting so I can create something as beautiful as Dear Lillie.

I recently purchased this cute caddy from Target’s new Threshold collection, and was was able to try out my pen.

Writing with it was so simple! And when I made a mistake, a wet paper towel cleaned if off in no time!

I can’t wait to try my pen out on other chalk boards! And maybe one of these days, I will have mastered some fancy writing to create a piece of art like Dear Lilly!

My Favorite Things…No Soliciting Signs

On school nights, the kids and I are often in pj’s earlier than most people. Especially if Dan is at work.  Curtains are closed.  Porch light is on.  We’re snuggled in for the night.  To the passer by, they would {should} know that the porch light and closed curtains mean “do not knock on my door if you are selling something”. But there are those people who don’t understand those unspoken rules.  So I thought a simple sign might communicate with them better.

I started searching for a ‘no soliciting’ sign.  But I didn’t want a sterile, boring sign like this…

I figured I could paint a sign but didn’t feel overly motivated.  Thanks to ebay, I was able to track down the perfect answer…

 I was tired of answering my door to someone wanting to clean my carpets or selling the sharpest set of knives when I was all ready for bed.  But I didn’t want to discourage the neighborhood kiddo selling wrapping paper or raising money for fifth grade camp from knocking.  I think this sign kindly gets the point across to those visiting my front porch. {And it happens to look cute, too!}

Our door is black so the sign fits right in…

Thankfully, I have noticed a great decrease in the number of late evening knocks on my door, so our little sign is doing it’s job perfectly!!  Thank you ebay!

My Favorite Things….S Hooks

Every spring, I get hanging baskets for the front porch.  But they always felt like they were so high!!  So a few years ago, I purchased some big ‘S’ hooks from the gardening section at Home Depot.

They are about 12″ long.  And I love how they drop the hanging baskets down to an inviting  height!

 It’s an inexpensive way to bring your hanging baskets down to a more visible height.  And it adds some warmth to your outside decor as well!!

It’s one of those simple adjustments that make such a huge difference!

My Favorite Things…Magic Sliders

Over the next few weeks, I am going to share with you some of my favorite things…things that I can’t live without when decorating.

Today I’ll highlight my furniture movers. {Or furniture skids. Or ez sliders.  They have several different names.}  I own a set of Magic Sliders, which were purchased at Target.

{target}

When I get the urge to move furniture, I don’t like to wait for help. That’s where these little numbers come in handy!

Does your dresser seem impossibly heavy? Just lift up each corner enough to slide one of these underneath…

And it will glide across your floor ‘as if it had wheels’. {that’s the tag line for Magic Sliders}.  And I’m here to tell you, IT’S TRUE!   I can redecorate an entire room all on my own, thanks to my Magic Sliders!

If you like to move furniture around and you don’t own a set of furniture movers, add it to your shopping list.  You won’t be disappointed.
